Rick,
I just did a comparison test compairing some different set ups . The
best in low end torque
was the combo of the super traps with a stock air box, vboost working ,
needles shimed
10 thou. and mix screws at 2.5 turns . This resulted in starting the
torque hump at an adverage
of 4500 rpm & peak torque at about 6200 @ 82 ft lbs It makes for a very
enjoyable , smooth running street bike . The Hindle & Kerker stg 7 or
whatever
crowd will beat you in the 1/4 mile though but not by much . About two
to three bike lengths . There was another set up that put the bottom of
the hump at about 5200 rpm and peak torque at 6650 @ 78 ft lbs with
stock air box 10 thou. on the needles and a vortex pipe . This is also a
very enjoyable bike to ride .
The other set up is the Kerker with a 2 inch can . Stock air box. 10
thou on the needles . the bottom of the torque hump at 5200 and the
peak 6700 @ 81 ft lbs . All system with the vboost operational .
This info is for the pepole that do not want to get into the stg 7
tuning curve and just want to change the sound of the bike but want to
keep the smooth running of the stock bike . The key is the stock air box
. Leave the box alone . The question is what sound and or look do you
want and with the Kerker can you do without the center stand . I've not
had the opportunity to work with a Mark's pipe but believe it too will
produce the same results . The real controlling factor of the vmax is
the camshafts . Disregarding the Vgas and flatslides look at T.H.'s web
site at the 120 hp club . All everyone is doing is moving the torque
hump around . The higher in the rpm band we move the hump the more hp we
will develop at the scrifice of the low end torque . This does make for
a faster bike but will take away the low end pull that most steet riders
like .
