I followed ....or better allowed the factory rep to do the first oil and
filter changes and he clearly stated that during the running in, for the
first 700 miles he had put some Yamaha running in lubricant no information
on what it was or what it was supposed to be. After the 700 miles he went
directly to full synthetic racing type oil. As I've said before, he warned
me that there would be a tendency to use some oil and that I would have to
top-up every 2000-3000 miles.
I don't mind and don't have to check the sight glass, just notice the
frequency the red oil light comes on as I accelerate hard (I think in the US
that light is orange).
No problem with warranties........
