The stage 1 kit with supertapps & K & N filter should work fine. As for the air box it 
kinda depends what you want. I just did a stage 1, K & N, Kerker 4-1 setup on mine, 
and it runs great with or without the Y. The best top end performance seemed to be no 
Y v-boost open all the time. But this gives you a rough idle (which kinda sounds cool) 
and a little less bottom end. With the Y & normal v-boost seemed to help the bottom 
end a little. 

this is my set up and it seems to work real well with or without the "Y" and with 
normal v-boost or open boost

170 main jets
needles in # 3 pos.
2 turns out mixture screw

just my 1/2 cents worth
works fine for me everywhere

               I've seen some people raise the "Y" to make the inlet

               I've seen some people remove the "Y" and trim the top

               inside diameter of the air filter
               some others have just drilled holes in the "Y"
If I install the K&N replacement filter (oem style) and do the air box
mod along with
super trapp slipons will a Stage 1 kit be all I need ?
