OK I've been doing some testing and I have a pastebin patch to show my
intent so hopefully it at least shows what I mean.
I'm still recompiling and to see how the change will work to be sure they
fix the problem, as it does compile this way but I'm just going to test the
combinations in case you'd prefer a very accurate patch.
You would probably have a better solution, and all the call-sites may not
need to be changed but I hope you'll understand now after seeing it.
