Hi List,
Well, I took the themocouple and the valve assembly out of
an old regulator. Sure enough, when I heated the termocouple, the valve
held in the open position until it closed. It snapped closed. The
wires I thought were for the electromagnet were actually from the therature
switch. When the overheat opens, the circuit for the electromagnet is
opened and the LP is shut off.
What does all this mean? Well, you can use the part
from an old regulator as a test unit for a thermocouple. Just heat it with
a torch and it will hold if the thermocouple is OK!
