Hey all,

The VTSDA list had this note in it about 'Code Camp'.

Check the website ... if you want ... it is a MS/VS.NET oriented free
day-long workshop/conference with amateur speakers (i.e., amateur and
pro-coders that don't make a living by touring conferences and giving
talks) on a variety of useful topics. Of course it appears that MS
sponsors it to some degree, but I don't know how much...

Is there anything FOSS-oriented like this in the North East?

Just curious,

Nick

going to Code Camp this saturday?)

The April meeting of VTdotNET will be delayed until April 20th, so save
the date!

Eric de Carufel is coming down from Montreal to tell us about Parallel
Programming and the new Parallel Extensions for Visual Studio.

Topic: There is no more free lunch! The Moore's law is over. If we want
more power we need to cross the processor barrier and do work in
parallel. In June 2008, Microsoft released its second CTP of Parallel
Extensions library. Come with me to see how easy it will be to make that
leap of faith into the world of parallel processing. We will see how
Task, concurrent collections, lazy initialization, parallel Linq and
other tools can help us in this endeavour.

Speaker Bio: Eric De Carufel is a .NET solution architect for Orckestra
in Montreal. He is a specialist in application development with
Microsoft .NET Framework. He has more than fifteen years of experience
in software design in various domains as transportation, food stores,
insurance, engineering, finance and electronic business. Eric is a
member of Groupe d'usagers Visual Studio .NET de Montreal at which he
gave some presentation. Eric is a Microsoft certified developer
(Microsoft Certified Application Developer - MCAD)
