I once had a cop harrangle me for parking at a public park after sunset (there was a sign, but it wasn't lit and thus couldn't be seen in the dark). After questioning and much intimidation he told me "I'll let you off with a warning this time, but next time it's a $5 fine."
I would have preferred the fine.
