The problem is most likely you do no have the correct hex height and widths 
specified. 

have you tried clicking the 'Edit Grid' button in the Grid component? It opens 
up a view of the map where you can click on the map to set a rough grid size 
and then use the arrow keys to change the grid parameters (hex heigh , hex 
width, X, y) and see the changes on the screen.

Once you have a rough hex size set, look at the left edge of the map and use 
the left/right arrow keys to get a hex edge lined up. Then scroll over to the 
right edge of the map and use ctrl-left/right arrow keys to adjust the hex 
width until it is right.

Then do the top with arrows, then bottom with ctl-arrows.


That's roughly how I do it. Should take you a couple of minutes!
