I haven't been reading all my VASSAL email lately. (I know, shame on me... :) But I have already put together a bunch of counters with simple black icons for SFB. If any one wants to make use of them, include a reference to "space fleet conflicts" ;) in the subject line of their reply so I can pick it out of my inbox. I have not posted the mod anywhere because it isn't really done yet and I doubt it would be legal. But everyone is welcome to make use of the material. I am very pleased with the way it has turned out so far.
