Yes, you're right, these are images from a long time ago that have just
kept working as my version of VirtualBox has moved on.

I have one file in ~/.VirtualBox/HardDisks:-
-rw-r--r-- 1 chris chris 3648078336 Nov 28 2008 XP MKIII.vdi
... and three snapshots in ~/.VirtualBox/Machines/XP MKIII/Snapshots:-
