The md5sum result for the version I am using is:

Downloads>md5sum Win10_20H2_v2_English_x64.iso
10d50d88fac6306a00ddb41e983a046b  Win10_20H2_v2_English_x64.iso

Microsoft calls it the 'Windows 10 October 2020 update'.

I answered your questions below.

I tried re-downloading the ISO file and got the exact  same data (according to
the diff program).

Have you tried downloading the current ISO file and booting it ?

Perhaps I should file a bug report ? Where would I do this ?

I've installed win10 in a virtual machine a few months ago, and had no
problems. I'll download the iso image you're using to see if I can
reproduce the issue. Which version of virtualbox are you using 6.1.16r140961?

As long as you've attached this iso to the guest's DVD drive and made
that drive bootable before the disk drive, this looks like it should
boot. The only other possibility I can think of is you're trying to
install a 64 bit windows 10 on a guest configured as 32 bit. Other
than that I'm out of ideas.

The boot order is for the virtual maching is
Floppy, Optical, Hard Disk

OK. Rather than trying to boot the iso from a share, can you copy it
to the host itself, change the guest settings to point at the local
iso file, and try it again?

Greg

I even tried checking Live CD/DVD under optical drive
