Pretty sure you asked for disk, not CPU. In any case I can assure you that a virtualbox winxp guest (ISTR that even a linux guest at a grub prompt also) will consume 100% of a core, sitting idle. I've bug-reported and complained about that more than a year ago at least a just gave up hope that anything would be done about it nearly a year ago. Indeed. Right now a VBoxHeadless is consuming 100% of a core and the guest is sitting there waiting for me to do an alt-ctl-del to log in. I'm really not sure how to resolve the CPU issue as nobody really suggested any debugging I could do to see where the CPU cycles were going. b.
