Initially, I did.  I should have asked for both.  In a subsequent
post, I requested for CPU.  Given what you've written below, it's
clear you don't have enough CPU to drive the I/O due to a bug with
VirtualBox.

ISTR?  (I seem to recall?)

My WinXP Guest does not consume 100% of CPU.  Currently it's chewing
about 5-11% of the CPU.

Have you `strace' the VirtualBox process?
