I'd recommend backing up your vpopmail/bin, lib and include directory then doing a regular install of vpopmail with --enable-clear-passwd=n. Re config/compile courier-imap from scratch. If that does not work you can put the old binaries back. I bet it would work.It's a good bet. Everything's working well now. Thanks for the suggestion.
Vpopmail 5.2.2 includes the clear-passwd patches from the 5.3 series. You can --enable-clear-passwd and it will work properly with old vpasswd files.
