your question I would have to develop a need personally with What I am using it for. Then I would have a need for further
development.
Surely, you're not just talking about you, right? You mean people out there in general, right?
Well, if you follow this list, you will know that various patches have been submitted for things that (at least presumably) the people had a personal need for. And the patches were ignored. (Probably more patches would have been submitted but for the fact that it became pretty obvious that patches were just being ignored.)
So, it seems that your criterion has been satisfied and there is a need for further development.
