It depends both on the state you are in and the policies of your facilty. They have a state board similar to nursing that controls scope of practice. I can tell you that some states allow Rad techs to inject contrast and flush central lines, some do not. Even in those that do, many are weary to use central lines, especially PICCs because they have seen infiltraions/extravasions of contrast from these lines.
