I attended St Louis Community College. We were taught how to insert an
IV, how to secure it, signs of phlebitis, infiltration etc. We also had
hands on training with manikins.  However, I was never allowed to start
an actual IV on a patient.  When I started my 1st nursing job , and
started my 1st line, it did seem much different
