Apology accepted and is much appreciated. It did feel like a slap in the face to state unequivocally that the standards were wrong and ignored considering the diligent hard work over 2 years by a group of dedicated professionals. I can appreciate the strength of your convictions because I also have that same courage of my convictions. Discussion and debate is needed, so I would encourage you to keep posting to the listserv. Thanks, Lynn

This seems like a good moment for me to apologize to Lynn if I have
offended. I did not intend to. I intended to state my position
strongly, in hopes of stimulating thought and debate, and challenging
the status quo.

I do feel strongly about this, partly because of the issue itself, and
partly because I hate it when nurses become non-thinking task robots.

I have promised myself to not prolong useless, feckless debate, so I
will have nothing further to say on this topic for now to the group. I
will continue to respond to individuals.

Yes, I guess it does sound like that. You are correct that we are
passionate about our positions because we are passionate about good
patient care. Lynn
