*Mark -* ** *I know what you mean about fishing the "classic" rivers. Like you, I started my trout fishing in the northeast, but I was further north than you. My first experiences were on the Battenkill where it swings briefly across the Vermont / New York line. My favorite hole was down stream from the bridge at Shushen, New York. That was where I caught my first trout on a fly - a 10" brown on an Adams dry ... How classic can you get? My first trout on a fly was with a dry, but I soon went along with the trend and became a wet fly fisherman and to this day I seldom fish a dry fly - althoough I still carry a box of them with me every time I hit the stream.
