Wes, I saw one method on a steelhead site where the guy rigged a micro swivel 
to his tippet, shoved that into the tube and them made a loop of tippet, a size 
smaller, on the back side of the swivel that the hook was attached to. I'm 
wondering what a small bead that would fit the tube and some knot-sense would 
do.

You can replace a hook if it becomes damaged (usually by 
hitting a rock on the back cast) but the tube does not stay on if you snag and 
the line breaks at the knot.
