I go on a long weekend trip w/ a couple of friends of mine each spring & fall, & w/ three people in a boat, shorter rods are required. I use a baitcasting reel to troll crankbaits & an ultralight rig for inline spinners on 4 lb mono for those trips, otherwise I use fly gear. I've kept all my "standard" fly fishing gear for friends & kids to use where fly rods are difficult to cast.
