Joyce,
Can’t wait to get this one. My son lives in Boise now, and I’m hoping to get
the fish the Snake quite often in the next few years. A go-to killer pattern
is just what I need for new water. Do you have a preferred fishing method, time
of day, season, etc. for this one?

Here’s the Google images page- lots of variations on this fly:
https://www.google.com/search?q=purple+peril+fishing+fly+images&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=Vp6kUsfmEoaAqgGQuYCoBw&ved=0CEAQsAQ&biw=1177&bih=629

Or just type in ‘purple peril fishing fly images’ in the search engine.

And from what I’m hearing from Montana, the second color to have for this
pattern would be soft pink- not hot or florescent or ice UV- but just soft or
pastel pink dubbing, like dyed fur or wool.

Peggy, I will probably be tying a Doc Markham peril which he uses, and claims
is the ONLY fly to be used, with success, on the Snake river. It's basically a
transformed purple peril using arctic fox and lots of flash. Joyce

  Hi Peggy,

to make it as cold as possible, I'll ty a Jack Frost variation. This is a
pattern from Bob Church. I'll use as much of the suggested material as possible:

Ice dub instead of the white wool
Red arctic fox for the tail
Hair from a doter yeti to replace the marabou (if I can find some <G>).
White yak hair to replace the thread.
Maybe a curved penguin bone for the hook...

  Stop better here.

  Rene
