It's true, I threw the ball into play and then
scuttled off the field for a while to watch the fur
(and hackle and yarn and spinner blades) fly. Ran back
out once in a while to take slap at the ball myself.

This was fun. Should generate some more of these "we
can debate till the cows come home and never agree"
topics. For the record, I use flies with my fly rod
and hardware with my spinning rod and yes-gasp!-even
PowerBait and crawlers sometimes, especially when I
fish with my son.
