Say you have a rod designated as an 8 wt, what would happen to
performance if you used say a 7 Wt? Or possibly a 6 Wt with the rod ?
You can go up a weight on the line for most rods but not down very well. A heavier line might be called for on some rods but a lighter line becomes difficult to control.
