What is(are) the color(s) of the SCIII and SCIV blanks? I'm going to order some components to build 1 or 2 in the near future, and was wondering what the color(s) is(are) so I can start picking component and thread colors.
I'm going to build one for bass, and I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to talk myself out of ordering another for trout. Still unsure as to whether to pay the extra $20-25 for the SCIV over the SCIII. Any opinions (lol) on a good all purpose length and weight for trout? 9foot? I would love to cast some different lengths and weights, but it's just not an option for me living in this area. I still have my starter rod (8 foot 6wt), and my flea flicker that I built last year (6' 6" 3wt GL3), but I'm thinking I want to build a nice, all-purpose, trout rod to replace my starter. My casting skills are still what most would probably consider marginal (but gettin' better all the time... though slowly since I'm self taught), so I'm not sure if I want to go with a 5wt or a 4wt. I love using lighter tackle, but I primarily fish with nymphs and streamers (and roll casting a weighted bugger with the 3wt is like giving my cat a bath--not pretty), so I might ought to go with the 5wt. Any input on the blank colors and suggestions are appreciated, Timothy -----Original Message----- From: Bob Haering [SMTP:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, March 12, 2002 6:39 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [VFB] b-day flyrod St. Croix or GLoomis I full agree. I was told my several vendors this year that St Croix has totally retooled & has changed the blank design. It use a curve for the taper transitions instead of a straight taper. The result is a stronger smoother casting rod. I have both Loomis & St Croix in a 3 wt. Both my wife and I prefer the St. Croix.
