Jimi,
Forgot to put this in the other message... I mark my lines instead of the spools.  Picked this one up from one of Lefty's books somewhere along the line.  You use a permanent marker and put small bands around the line to indicate the weight; E.g., three small bands (a couple of mm wide) means this is a 3 weight.  You use a double-width band to indicate a 5.  So an 8 weight would be one wide band and three narrow.  He says you can indicate a weight forward by putting the wide band toward the tip and a double taper by placing the narrow band(s) toward the tip.  Not quite sure how this works on anything smaller than a 6 weight :)  Doesn't much matter to me because I only use weight forwards.  Suppose you could use a red marker for one type and black for the other.  I use this same system on a couple of shooting head systems I have.  Works for me.  I could never keep them damn little stickers on my spools and when I did - the writing wore off.
