And another from across the puddle.
I have heard arguments that a shorter rod is better for playing fish quickly in as much that you have more leverage.
As for tippett size have you tried fluorocarbon? I am using 10lb breaking strain measures .35mm and as it is virtually invisible in water has not yet affected my hookup ratio compared to lighter more visible tippet. The fish can still be played quickly without to much fear of breaks.

Hi Brad
Hope you dont mind someone from across the pond putting his 2penithwotrh to your "q"
Well the longer you take to play the fish, the longer it takes to recover, this is in fact due to the build up of lactic acid in the muscle fibres, also the larger the fish the quicker this happens,
So in fact no matter what weight rod you use, the lighter the tippet strenght you will still be that bit careful in case you snap off.
