I have had this same problem in the last two weeks! I will have to agree with the first response that the mixture has to be exactly correct. You may also be corrupting the epoxy with the plastic spoons. The syringes that come with the epoxy are specially made to keep from mixing with the epoxy.
I waited for the finish on my first coat to dry for three days, yet it was still sticky. The next batch I mixed up was dry and hard in 24 hours. I was using the syringes to make sure I had the right mixture, and still screwed it up. I would try and get the syringes. I aso believe that the epoxy will last for many years, so age is not the problem. It is very frustrating to put all that time into a rod, just to be snubbed by your bottle of epoxy!! Good Luck!!! Pat Eller >>> [EMAIL PROTECTED] 04/23/02 07:05AM >>> I've been trying to finish a rod but the finish keeps remaining sticky. It's Flex-coat Lite and is about 4 years old lying unopened in a drawer in the garage until now. I'm using a plastic spoon to measure the amounts since these are bottles and not syringes. I've recoated three times thinking that maybe I didn't get an accurate amount. I'm sure that it is well mixed and have tried pre-heating the bottles in a water bath. Does this stuff age?? Do I need to get new finish , preferably in a syringe? Kind of ticked off about this since the finsh is starting to be overbuilt for the rod and I don't want to start over. Steve Schalla
