What kind of knot is used
for attaching the dry fly to the line?
I use an improved chinch knot tied to the bend.
Is there any special preparation that
needs to be done to either of the two flies?
Nope, but I like to use a high floating fly like a Humpy, foam bug, or a deer hair fly. Wulff's work well also. just be sure to proportion the dropper fly to the floating fly. Example: Don't expect a #20 Wulff to float a #8 Woolly Bugger!
