Au contraire!  The fulcrum is much closer to the fish than the angler giving the angler an advantage as I see it.
Thats what I meant by leverage. Physics as you can tell aint my strong point!



Most stateside regulations limit us to 2 flys.
Plenty when you consider the fact you rarely get 2,3 or 4 fish on at a time. Mackerel fishing excepted.

 

I'd say a 5wt is typical of most trout with a 6 wt being the low end of steelhead and small salmon.
Salmon here are fished for with 10 weights and up regardless of size !


The only GLoomis I own is a 9' 8wt closeout blank my buddy turned into a steelhead rod.  It is a very stiff fast rod which has landed many a kilo of fish from way north to Saint Croix.
