Hi Doug
    Pick the rod that will give you the most pleasure on the lake or stream. If the 
Avid seams to cast better it may be a better match to your style. I have cast many 
rods in my time and there are a lot of great inexpensive rods to be had. I believe we 
often pay a lot of unnecessary money for cosmetics.
    If it is a real concern contact St. Croix and ask for the technical data on both 
rods. Then make your choice.
