Deb: My wife will slow cook a venison or elk roast in a deep covered pan on the top of the stove. She'll put in cut-up potatos, carrots, onions, mushrooms (if you like them), and if the meat is tasting a little "gamey", she will cut up an apple and cook it along with the vegetables. An apple in with the game meat will take a lot of that strong odor and taste out of it. We have our deer cut into, roasts, steaks, chops. All the rest including the trimmings will be ground with beef mixed in to make "deer burger". I haven't killed an elk (our favorite) for a couple of years, but manage to bag a buck deer every fall. We enjoy it. Once, when we kept our upright freezer in the garage, someone stole half a deer and a quarter of an elk, all cut and wrapped and frozen. We knew who it was, but could never prove it.
