Jimi, the Whiting 100's are nice for getting hackle of a specific size range
without buying the whole thing. They say that you should be able to get 100
flies out of the package. For a new tyer building up a variety of material,
I like the concept as I can target what I want and get a variety of colors
for the price of a saddle. Just my thoughts.
