So – looks like a fire got started (at least a small one.) I am hoping that nobody took anything that I wrote in my original Trimming Post seriously.  I especially want to make sure that nobody thinks that I was putting down Dean or his opinions.  I surely hope that he will NOT quit giving his opinions.  We’re all friends here (although I still haven’t heard back from DonO….).  For future reference – it’s generally considered a wonderful idea NOT to take anything I say seriously.  If anything changes – I’ll let you know.  Those of you who remember my previous posts should know that I cover my incompetency with sarcasm and pseudo-humor.  The only thing that I REALLY meant from my contributions to this thread was that Doug shouldn’t ever feel put down by what people say about his flies.  None of us should.  I am in this list because I enjoy the cyber-company.  I’ve even gotten to meet some of you in person.  I have learned a great deal from the tiers here…and have much more to learn.  We do all have room to learn…some of us (myself) more than others.  The good thing is that people like DonO and Tony (and many other wonderful tiers whose names we don’t hear all the time) are willing to teach and, in some cases, entertain.  I have never known any of these people to be impatient with any of my questions.  And I do not imagine that anyone has totally blasted any of the flies that I have swapped.  I have had constructive criticism for a few patterns….when I asked someone specifically for it (off list, of course!)  The criticism was entirely well-intended and very much appreciated.  I will ask again.   So – let’s make sure that nobody is upset about any of this.    If any of my comments have raised anyone’s hackles…. Trim them. Or squint.   Chris
