Many thanks, Mark and Paul. I already had Byard order the 43" Folstaff for me. A little expensive, but my safety on the stream is paramount with me. Sometimes it's a lot cheaper in the "long run" to go first class. I never skimp on things when my or my family's safety is concerned. After what happened to me on the Gunnison, I'll never wade without a staff again!

I second Mark's comments. 10+ years of hard use and my Folstaff is still
going strong and as trustworthy as ever. Wading staves are not a product
to take chances with. While homemade non-folding staves can be both
strong and inexpensive, I used to find reasons not to carry mine because
of the inconvenience, thus making it worse than useless. The convenience
of the Folstaff means it's always there when I need it. Cheers,
Paul
