Fishing is a wonderful sport but the real essence is not the equipment you use or what other fisherman are doing. It is your experience with nature - namely communicating with fish. First, you must offer something that they can see, next it must be something that they can recognize as food; and finally the take This is predatory behavior at its finest. After that - the fight is fun, releasing is fun, fillet and dinner occasionally is cool too. But it is in my opinion that linking yourself with nature with an offering, recognition, and the take...is the essence of fly-fishing.
