I'm with JIMMY on this thread....The Clearwater is a fine reel for the price- you take good care of it & it will take good care of you. we used to sell them alot in the store & folks have brought them back in years later. the reels look well used, but they hold up pretty good. One thing thought--- Do Not Drop the reel on Rocks.. A customer had done that, lost his footing along the bank and went down, the rim of the reel had hit a stream rock & bent in.. Customer ended up breaking the Dented part out with pliers so they could continue fishing. Other then that mishap, a fine reel for the $$$$

As to Line...if you are only fishing Small, 15 foot wide streams with it, the Double taper will be fine, however, if your going to fish larger waters or areas with wind a constant "foe", go with the Wieght Forward Line. As Jimmy writes, works fine for him. I actually recommend folks new to flyfishing or just working within a budget to buy Wieght Forward line...it's more user friendly...

  in short...."WHAT JIMMY SEZ!!!!".

Has or does anyone use the Orvis Clearwater 3/4 reel? If so what is you opinion of it? Been thinking of buying one, the price is right, as a primary. Also, I have been reading a lot about fly lines as of late, what is the best all around line to have? The streams around here are not very wide or deep, 15' across and 4' deep avg., thinking of going to a 4wt DT, right now I use a 5wt level floating line. Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks.
