Rene:  The ostrich doesn't float too well, but there are a
lot of fibers that will take floatant as applied.   It still
works, but needs attention regularly to apply floatant.

Larry,

I use a CDC feather for the body of an improved Adams. The
CDC barbules add
a lot of movement to the fly and they add floatability.
Is the ostrich Adams a good floater? I never tried it.
Always thought that
the ostrich plume will soak quickly and caause the fly to
sink.
