I've always thought that if your flies are getting chewed up by fish, gee, such
a situation to be in...! :-)
I experience this the most with peacock hearl bodies, even the ones reinforced with
fine copper wire...(These lasta little while longer perhaps, but I think the bodies
without the wire ribbing look better.) Lately I've taken to twisting four or five
strands of hearl together, and I think this works just as well as the ribbing, and
looks better.
If it's a fly I've tied on one of the newer, more expensive, $4.00plus per 25,
hooks, yeah, I'll tear/shave off all the stuff and put the hook back in the box it
came from and "recycle" it. If it's an old Mustad, I may not choose to be so
conservative... :-)
