Thanks for the reply Don. I have looked at pictures of Ephemera simulans and as far as I can tell they do not look the same... and that's what has got me so interested in what the heck these things are. For one if they had legs they were not visible and held tightly to the side as to not be seen at all. I'm going back over to the Park in 2 weeks with my brother and we will go up in the mountains exploring... I'm going to try to get a few samples of these things for closer inspection. Thanks everyone who has replied to my curiosity.

Those look like mayfly nymphs, perhaps Ephermera simulans , otherwise known as the Brown Drake.
Your nymph looks very similar, except that the gills are darker.  Other than that, I see very little difference.
I'm comparing your photos to a photo in 'Selective Trout'.  I remembered it from previous encounters with similar nymphs in high lakes in Wyoming, and using the photo to tie the nymph.
