Mark slapped my wrist with the following:

Harry is a bamboo rod "maker", as is Tony Spezio, and myself. Builders assemble a rod from components, while makers start from the raw materials.

I beg your pardon if you felt I insulted you, Tony and Harry with my inadvertent choice of words.
I was not aware of the differences in connotation.


I have the highest esteem for those who take bamboo culms and convert them into fly rods. I know I have neither the patience nor the skills to perform such a ...... let's use the right word... "creation" (?) No, that couldn't be the right word either. Feat? Maybe I don't have the proper use of the English vocabulary either.
