Allan,

Nah, wasn't upset or anything like that.  Just need to remember to word my replies to say it the right way.  I write on the side, so that's inexcusable for me... I'm glad you weren't upset about it, I was more worried when I saw your post that someone else might have taken mine the wrong way, and thought me an elitist, or snob. (I'm really not...  ;^})  I might have been wrong about Leonard creating the "maker" moniker, it was probably DonO.

Mark,

My apologies.

No need to apologize.  I'm glad you weren't upset.  And since an afficionado  (which should be spelled with only one "f") of connotations, I am glad to learn the difference.  I re-read my response and found that I DID over-do it.  And I forgot to use smiley-faces, too.

Maker was the title bestowed on the craft by Leonard if I remember correctly.  Wayne Cattanach picked up on it, and most folks that fiddle with bamboo sticks like to use it.  It kinda fits with bamboo rod making being a craft and an art.  I've nothing against the custom rod builders, I think they turn out some extraordinary rods, and many of them are talented way beyond me when it comes to wrapping guides and other things.

Thanks.  That is interesting history.  I like it.

Feeling like an ass,

But that's good.  At least the last time I felt one, it was so smooth and ........... wait a minute..... better not go there!  <G>

And if I ever use the wrong word again, PLEASE correct me.  I don't take offense.  Well, usually.

Allan
