A one piece under wrap in one colour with complimenting or contrasting overwraps looks expensive, it shows 2 tips, 2 overwraps and a mid section.  Try it on a pencil or similar.  Mind you i only bothered doing this once, on a 15 foot beachcaster that casts 8 ounces..... .iain

In the book I mentioned all the examples for the underwraps were for very heavy boat rods.
I was not sure if I should extend it to a 8wt. Wrapping rods in the winter gives you ample of time to play around
