This thought is related to the theme of repairing flies. I had a guy tell me once
that he admired a certain person's tying so much that he put the man's flies in his
vise (one at a time) and disected them. Took them apart, so he could learn from the
tying methods, etc. Anyone ever take another tier's flies apart to learn from them?

If the hook is still good I will reuse it. Trying to repair a fly seems
to be an uphill battle. Once something comes undone some else is sure
to follow. You can slow this down by throwing in a couple whips after
each step. The whips build up less bulk the a half hitch.

Subject: [VFB] fly repair?

Do you every repair a fly after you have used it?

Or do you toss it?

How many cut the materials off and start again?
