Another thing that I find, when tying small ties,
is that it is very important to leave enough room for the head. As a general
rule, that is the length of the eye of the hook. So, to remind myself of this
important place on the hook, I start my underwrap one eye distance back from the
eye of the hook so that I can then see plainly where I need to start my
proportions for the rest of the fly..2/3 of the remaining distance for the body,
1/3 for the thorax with that "sacred" eye distance for the head. Hope this
