I have been tying and using "micro jigs" in sizes that range from 1/128 oz. to 1/295 oz. for panfish here in Iowa for several years, using my 9' 6wt. Redington. These are generally fished about 18" - 24" under a micro ball float. I have caught lots of reasonably sized bluegill, using this method.

I have been curious to the idea of using jigs at the end of my line....I am getting to like a local length of the Patuxent River here in MD which offers more smallies and largemouths and crappies and perch than trout (perfect trout water just not stocked)....even though some behemoths have been known to swim up or come down from the reservoir when the gates are opened to release excess water...what kinds of jigs are best? and what sizes for 7 wt.?? Any killer color combos?
