"Mono filament has what is called "memory". If coiled for any length of time, it tends to return to the same coiled shape when you're casting and fishing with it. Stretching the leader before a fishing trip helps, but the best cure for memory is to rub the leader between rubber surfaces. Just cut a small piece of inner tube, fold it over between the thumb and forefinger, and pull the line through."
