I've never liked the results from my attempts at touch
dubbing, and so gave up on it many years ago.  I've
split thread, mad dubbing loops and for the most part
just rope-dubbed flies.  And to tell the truth, dubbed
flies aren't my favorite to make. I'll do it if I
really, really like the pattern, butr I have many
pother favorites that aren't dubbed.
