As Deb said, don't put the tips down, and avoid
contamination between the two tips if you are using
tubes (that's all that' available in this area). When
buying Devcon in tubes, try and find the stuff that
has the least yellow in the hardener. The more
yellow, the longer it has been out on the shelf.
Devcon 5 minute actually starts less yellow but
yellows more quickly due to hgigher amine content in
the hardener. The 2-ton stuff is slightly more yellow
to start with, but oxidizes much slower and doesn't
yellow nearly as fast.
If the tips do get clogged up I use a nail of the
appropriate size either to dig out the plug, or force
it back up into the tube.
