I thought I would go to a chest pack last year. I was in a well known Outdoor store 8 hours from where I live and saw the chest packs. They looked like what I wanted and bought one. That was early in the year. When I first tried to use it, I found the zippered pockets were so tight that my regular fly box would hardley fit in the pocket. I got them in the pockets but when on the river, I tried to get them out, it was a real hassle. I can't get to the back pockets without removing the chest pack. After using it several times last season, I went back to my vest.
This particular pack is totally a hassle, had I checked it out closer I would of noticed these things before I bought it. It was not a cheap chest pack either. I am not condemning chest packs, just posted this to let you know, CHECK it out real good for what you want to carry. Be sure it will fit in the pack without a hassle. I am looking into a different chest pack but unless I can try it on and see if it suits what I want to carry, I will not buy one. I learned from this experience.
I will not post the name of the one I got, will give it off list if anyone is interested..
